Venerable Father Patrick Peyton once said:
"A World at Prayer is a World at Peace."
Today’s Micro-podcast “002: “Where Prayer Leads” at the Digital Café provides a chance to write and discuss Patrick Peyton’s wisdom with Fr. Anthony Gramlich’s help.
TOOLS FOR THIS ROSARY ACTIVITY: (ALL AGES)
PEN / PAPER or
DIGITAL NOTEPAD / DEVICE
STEP 1: Write down the following quotation by Fr. Peyton in your Rosary Journal.
"A world at prayer is a world at peace". ~ Ven. Fr. Peyton
STEP 2: Freewrite your reaction to Venerable Fr. Patrick Peyton’s words.
TIPS
Before you begin, try looking up the words “prayer” and “peace” in the OED or a dictionary you trust.
Write down the definitions, or cut / paste them into your notepad.
In light of those definitions, ponder: what does this phrase by the Rosary Priest, "A world at Prayer is a World at Peace" mean to you?
Write your thoughts (just a sentence or two; or jot down two points in point form on your digital notepad).
Extra time? Try composing a very short paragraph about Fr. Petyon’s words or about this video by: Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC.
Illuminate each point with examples (from life, the Gospel, etc.)
NOTE: Older students or adults are invited to construct a 300-word reflection and/or to share it via e-mail with one person. We invite you to pray for that person and pray for peace in the world.
When you watch Fr. Anthony’s video, feel free take notes, or just grab a pillow or rest. We invite you to listen with the intention of deepening your understanding of the “Why” behind our prayers as Fr. Alar suggests in his prologue to this new Mini Series on the Rosary.
STEP 3: Share your thoughts with others
If you are in a group (i.e. RCIA, classroom, home school, prayer group, moms group, dads group, youth group, staff PD group, hospital, community home), we invite you to share your thoughts on the words of Venerable Peyton during your free time / prayer time together, and/or discuss Fr. Anthony’s explanation on the connections between prayer and peace.
EXTRA ENRICHMENT: FILM NIGHT IDEAS
OPTIONAL
STEP 4: We invite you to watch “PRAY: THE STORY OF PATRICK PEYTON”
