ETERNAL WISDOM
“La joie ne se trouve pas dans les objets qui nous entourent, elle se trouve au plus intime de l’âme, on peut aussi bien la posséder dans une prison que dans un palais”
– Manuscrit A, 65 (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)
“Behold the Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing,
even to exhausting and consuming Itself, in order to testify Its love”
(Revelation of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary, June 1675).
“My whole strength lies in prayer and sacrifice, these are my invincible arms;
they can move hearts far better than words.” - Saint Therese of Lisieux

CLICK ABOVE TO REVIEW THEME OF THIS NOVENA TO PRAY TO THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR POPE LEO XIV FROM MAY 18 to JUNE 27 for 40 DAYS AND NIGHTS — sharing your Testimony through your sincere acts of Oblation, Reparation, Reconciliation, Expiation and Supplication — the six words Fr. Nuno asks readers to focus upon as they pray for the entire Church and offer five Rosary decades each day.
REPARATION, EXPIATION, SUPPLICATION FOR PEACE
We can offer these Rosaries to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in reparation, and also to repair the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This request, which also represents acts of supplication requested by the Angel of Portugal, was seconded on June 13, 1917 by the request of Our Lady of Fátima who subsequently appeared on 10 December 1925 to request First Saturday Devotion; with a follow-up on 15 February 1926 (Feast Day of St. Claude de Columbière). These requests are in the summary of the apparition narratives published by the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima1 in this PDF:

THE ROSARY HOUR PODCAST NEWSLETTER |
17th of MAY 2025
To those who are called, to those who are dear to God the Father and kept safe for Jesus Christ, we wish you all mercy and peace and love.
In this Live Record presentation, Fr. Anthony Gramlich, MIC, continues our ENCONTRO: Conference on the Christian Meaning of Suffering, focusing today on how-to-pray despite “the isolation you can experience from suffering”.3
He also speaks from experience when he shares the power of prayers for healing, the focus of our novena — a prayer for the Church and the whole world during this special period from May 18 to June 27.
AGERE CONTRA: About this 40 days and 40 nights Novena for POPE LEO XIV & the Church
This novena evolved by using the Portuguese spelling of the word “Tower” OR “T.O.R.R.E.S." in the phrase “TORRES da LUZ” — which as an acronym that might draw us closer to reflecting upon the rich spirituality of Beata Alexandrina da Costa who described a person’s soul as a “TOWER OF LIGHT”.
How can we, in our times, become towers of light?
NOVENA STEP 1: Oblação
INVOKE THE HOLY SPIRIT DESCEND UPON
THE ENTIRE CHURCH in an act of OBLATION.
During this hour of transition, this novena for the Church and for the new pontiff invites those praying to contemplate their own roles as apostles in our times as we formally inaugurate Pope Leo XIV tomorrow — May 18th, also the birthday of St. John Paul II, and memory of the baptism of St. Carlo Acutis.
May the Church be transformed by the Holy Spirit under this new pontificate:
- let us pray, then, the VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS — the Pentecost Hymn in Latin, which is an act of oblation that reflects Liturgical oneness around the world — mirroring the motto of Pope Leo XIV:
“In Illo uno unum” (“In the one Christ we are one”).
NOVENA STEP 2: Reflexão
For this novena, we invite reflection upon six key words — from this mnemonic — a kind of acronym for what it means to be “Towers of Light”.
Fr. Nuno has chosen the following terms which thematically mirror the catechesis of the Angel of Portugal and Our Lady of Fátima in the spelling of the word TORRES:4
1. Testemunho (Testimony from Latin testimonium, from testis ‘a witness’.)
2. Oblação (Oblation from Latin offerre ‘to offer’.)
3. Reparação (Reparation comes from reparare ‘make ready again’)
4. Reconciliação (Reconciliation, the restoration of humanity to God’s love)
5. Expiação (Expiation is the act of making amends for wrongdoing; atonement)
6. Súplica (Supplication is a form of petitionary prayer or public prayer procession)
This description of the soul is derived from the fourth Seer of Fátima, the Northern Portuguese blessed born Alexandrina Maria da Costa who was catechised in Fr. Nuno’s city by the Poveirans. She passed into eternal life in 1955, and her testimony and message of Oblation as a “victim soul”, so called by Pope Pius XII — allowed her to petition God on behalf of souls and like many other saints evolve the Church. This Saint is particularly important in 1925 as she was responsible for encouraging Pope Pius XII to consecrate all of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. One can see the original speech in Portuguese here:
The English translation will be published soon.
STEP 3: Reparação — “Rezem o Terço, todos os dias, para alcançarem a paz para o mundo” (Our Lady of Fátima)
When Our Lady asked us in 1917 to pray five decades of the Holy Rosary each day, we are taking time in this period of 40-days and 40-nights — this Novena for Pope LEO XIV & the Church to revisit our understanding of “why” we pray the Rosary. At the end of this video, Fr. Alar introduces Fr. Chris and emphasizes his generous teaching which has allowed the Rosary Hour Podcast and our listeners the time to reflect on the power of this prayer. For those new to the Rosary, here is a reminder for the coming days:
Pray on Saturdays the Joyful Mysteries | Testemunho
Pray on Sundays the Glorious Mysteries | Reconciliação
Pray on Mondays the Joyful Mysteries | Testemunho
Pray on Tuesdays the Sorrowful Mysteries | Reparação
Pray on Wednesdays the Glorious Mysteries - Reconciliação
Pray on Thursdays the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary - Oblação
Pray on Fridays the Sorrowful Mysteries | Expiação
Each decade of the Holy Rosary is matched with Scriptural Readings which are here provided by the Holy See

LE GRAND JUBILÉ DES 350 ANS DES APPARITIONS de JÉSUS à sainte Marguerite-Marie Alacoque — “Rendre amour pour amour”
STEP 4: Expiação (with Readings)
Make amends to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the next 40-days and 40-nights
In his writings, Pope Leo XIII stated that “When the Church, in the days immediately succeeding her institution, was oppressed beneath the yoke of the Caesars, a young Emperor saw in the heavens across, which became at once the happy omen and cause of the glorious victory that soon followed. And now, to-day, behold another blessed and heavenly token is offered to our sight-the most Sacred Heart of Jesus, with a cross rising from it and shining forth with dazzling splendor amidst flames of love. In thatSacred Heart all our hopes should be placed, and from it the salvation of men is to be confidently besought.”
As you progress, try to call up the 1899 writings by Pope Leo XIII from “ANNUM SACRUM” — “ENCYCLICAL OF POPE LEO XIII ON CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART”
May 18, start your journey of rediscovering Pope Francis’s Encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus — “Dilexit Nos”. Here is the RHP audio rendering with all of Chapter One read aloud for you:
REFLECT ON THE CONSECRATION PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS — which you can plan to RECITE ON JUNE 27th, 2025 to end this NOVENA
OUTLINE OF Daily Novena PRAYERS:
Beginning on May 18th as we anticipate the Eucharistic Celebration for the beginning of the Petrine Ministry of the Bishop of Rome Leo XIV -- we invite you also to review the following document written by His Eminence, Archbishop Emeritus of Toronto, Cardinal Thomas Collins for a lovely overview of this devotion.
https://www.archtoronto.org/en/outreach/news/archdiocesan/a-new-pastoral-letter-from-cardinal-collins-heart-speaks-to-heart/
STEP 5: Supplication
Supplication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the year marking the 350th Anniversary of the Final Apparition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque might be honoured starting June 6. Try going to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on First Fridays until February 2026. This invitation to “petitionary prayer” in the form of a pilgrimage or “public prayer procession” might serve as fruitful acts of Reparation.
We can also participate in Masses of Reparation as Requested by Our Lady of Fátima — so let us pray often for the poor souls in Purgatory, singing a verse & refrain of the Requiem Aeternam each day, as we also remember the suffering of Pope Francis and other Popes in need of prayer who served before him.
PRAYERS FOR HOLY SOULS | JUBILEE INDULGENCE
If possible, according to your state in life, try finding time during the next 4-6 weekends to attend twice in one day two Holy Sacrifices of the Mass — striving to receive the Holy Communion whenever possible — and in a state of grace — as a Proxy for a Holy Soul as per the Jubilee Indulgence Decree distributed last year on May 13, 2024 and approved by Pope Francis. Try offering your sacrifice for the sake of the Church and for Holy Souls.

“I hail thee, white Lily of the glorious and ever peaceful Trinity, brilliant Rose, delight of Paradise, of whom the King of Heaven wished to be born, and with whose milk He wished to be nourished. Nourish our souls with divine graces!” (Prayer of St. Gertrude)
Explanation of The coat of arms of the Holy Father Leo XIV
Blazon
The left field is blue with a silver fleur-de-lis; the right is white, with a flaming heart pieced by an arrow, entirely red, and resting on an uncovered book.
Above the shield there is a silver mitre, adorned with three gold bands joined by a gold vertical post, with fluttering red infulae, fringed with gold and adorned with gold crosses; in front of the infulae there are the crossed Petrine keys, gold (bend) and silver (bend sinister), linked by a red cord.
Motto “IN ILLO UNO UNUM”
Explanation:
The coat of arms of the Holy Father Leo XIV
On the left field of the coat of arms of the Holy Father Leo XIV, the blue background recalls the heights of the heavens and is characterized by its Marian significance, a classic symbol referring to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the lily or fleur-de-lis (flos florum).
“If anyone greets me devoutly as the white Lily of the Trinity, the brilliant Rose of Paradise, I will do for him what I can through the Omnipotence of the Father, the Wisdom of the Son, and the superabundant mercy which fills my heart, flowing from the Love of the Holy Spirit.” (Our Lady to St. Gertrude).
In the other field, white in colour, there is the emblem of the Augustinian Order, a flaming heart pieced by an arrow. This image symbolically represents the words of Saint Augustine in the book of Confessions:
“Sagittaveras tu cor meum charitate tua”
(“You have wounded my heart with your love”).
It is an element that has always been present in the emblem of the Augustinians from the sixteenth century onwards, albeit with several variations, such as the presence of the book symbolizing the Word of God capable of transforming the heart of every man, as it was for Augustine. The book also recalls the enlightened works that the Doctor of Grace gave to the Church and humanity. White (in an ivory shade in the papal coat of arms) is a recurrent colour in other coats of arms of religious orders, and can be read as a symbol of holiness and purity.
The motto,
“In Illo uno unum” (“In the one Christ we are one”),
recalls the words of Saint Augustine in a sermon, the Exposition on Psalm 128, explaining that “in the one Christ we are one”, “one in the One Christ”.
