SEASON 2: EPISODE 2, “MEANT FOR HEAVEN”
Directed by: Godric Kim
Channel 1 - The Digital Café, “Bookshelf”
Introduced by Dr. Blythe Kaufman, founder of Children’s Rosary, this video extends our discussion on eternity, which we began with Cardinal Collins.
Kaufman reminds that we are “Meant for Heaven”, and explores why Our Lady invites children of God to prayer.
She makes reference to the theme song for “Children’s Rosary” here:
Dr. Kaufman helps us rediscover the nature of the ‘school of prayer’ that we enter into when we pray the Rosary in light of the concept of “eternity”.
Dr. Jessica Hooten Wilson goes on to develop our inquiry into the Foundations of Education in the School of Our Lady with the next segment entitled, “Ascend the Mountain”.
See the YouTube notes for evolving timestamp notes, including the discussion of Dr. Jessica’s latest bestselling book, “Reading for the Love of God” as we explore the question:
“How does reading help us to become children of God?”

Video #2: Pray in Portuguese with Padre Nuno
Lesson 4: "Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy" (Salve Rainha)
Padre Nuno’s Parish, the Church of Our Lady of Lapa celebrated the Feast of the Assumption on August 15 [CLICK HERE] with an “IMPONENTE”
procession posted on YouTube today by the Rosary Hour Podcast.Link to the segment AFTER the Salve Rainha lesson with Padre Nuno
Explore how this procession emphasizes the scriptural heart of the 4th Glorious Mystery: "Here is Your Mother" (John 19:27) which Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle discusses briefly after this main segment of the video.
This procession is an active prayer before the Holy Mass and an expression of entrustment by the community to Jesus through Mary.
For August 15, Archbishop of Braga (Arcebispo de Braga), Dom José Cordeiro — author of the pastoral letter: “Fazer Sinodalidade”, “A JMJ 2023 – Caminhar com os Jovens” presided over this procession for the first time.

"Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy."
On Aug 15, the Feast of the Assumption, 10 million citizens of Portugal are on National Holiday for the Solemnity for Our Lady: the Mother of God. On the Camino to Santiago at 4PM each year, thousands line the streets to unite in prayer with the Parish of Our Lady of Lapa Church which teaches in procession the heart of the 4th Glorious Mystery: "Here is Your Mother" (John 19:27).
This presentation begins with Marian procession's Spiritual Director, Fr. Nuno Rocha, who teaches "Hail, Holy Queen" in Portuguese for our global listeners in 25 countries. This segment models entrustment to Jesus through Mary in arguably the biggest public procession in the Archdiocese of Braga, presided over for the first time by Archbishop of Braga (Arcebispo de Braga), Dom José Cordeiro, author of the recent and first pastoral letter: “Fazer Sinodalidade”, “A JMJ 2023 – Caminhar com os Jovens”.
This annual event represents one of an original cycle of 20 traditional processions in this modern city, the largest of which is curated by Rev. Fr. Nuno Rocha, pastor of 25 years & the President of Fábrica da Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora da Lapa.
Together with Real Irmandade Nossa Senhora Da Assunção & Archdiocese of Braga, this annual "Imponente Procissão" takes 4.5 hours to complete, ending with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
This presentation of the Faith gives witness by its act of devotion & testimony St. Louis Marie de Montfort's writings on processions describe. Enjoy this 3-minute summary!
NOTE: Local scholar / Museum Director, Dr. Deolinda Carneiro who curated the photos for the Terço on the Camino Project for Pe. Nuno speaks in her research of the importance of understanding any recording as a mere journalistic report. Embedded in the procession is a catechetical element by its dramatic imagination, which we'll elaborate on w/ Dr. Carneiro in a future post: https://rosaryhourpodcast.substack.com, and through a new booklet for Rosary Leaders in English / Portuguese with prayers curated by Padre Nuno.
This event occurs during the Sardine Festa on the Ave. of Discovery & is a highlight for all tourists of many faiths coming together to discover the dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady. Global visitors to Póvoa de Varzim top 1 million: many make it a summer getaway to soak in the healing algae-rich waters, sunbathe at day-time cabanas due North of a utopian marina outside Lapa, or others pilgrimage through the city, heading to North to the Cathedral of Santiago del Compostela in Spain on a 12-kilometre boardwalk connecting Porto to Northern Spain.
Many people of all backgrounds are therefore exposed each year to the public processions of this rich faith community, drawing them to appreciate its unique local traditions, culture, music, art, dance, history on full display by a core fishing community historically known as some of world's greatest & most experienced nautical geniuses.
Fr. Nuno has served as pastor of this coastal area for 25 years: his parish welcomes you to this community via this virtual presentation, or you can fly to OPO and take the train to Lapa to pray the Terço (5 decades of the Rosary) before every single Holy Mass from 5H15 or 5H30 pm (depending on the novena) on Mon/Tues/Thurs/Friday (6 pm Mass). Terço is offered at 6H15/6H30 on weekends before the masses on Sat/Sun and before 10 AM on Sun.
Fr. Nuno is pastor of a 2nd parish, S. José, which begins another procession countdown from Sept. 1 when the novena begins & culminates on Sept. 10 Majestic Procissão honouring St. Joseph, with statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, etc. S. José offers a children's led Community Rosary every Sunday before the 11:30 a.m. mass for families / children and is uniquely curated by Fr. Nuno who also teaches the world the prayers of this Terço for the Rosary Hour Podcast https://nossasenhora.substack.com for those who wish to pray the Terço virtually before heading to Fátima on Pilgrimage. All are welcome to check https://rosaryonthecamino.substack.com for times to join in prayer of the Rosary before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as you journey along "The Way of St. James". (FYI: Updates are seasonal).
This video includes a quick explanation for North American audiences to build on Keith Nester's earlier discussion. Author of 40 books, and Spiritual Friend to Mother Teresa, Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle has written 3 books on Our Lady of Fátima and a book on the Miraculous Medal explains "Why We Honour the Mother of God".
Photos of the Rosary Mysteries: curated by Dra. Deolinda Carneiro, Scholar, Researcher, Art Historian, and Directora do Museu Municipal de Etnografia e História da Póvoa de Varzim.
NOTE:
This broadcast is dedicated to the sick, homebound, hospitalized, alone, or unable to travel due to chronic pain / illness and we hope Padre Nuno's procession will also help children around the world to explore the beauty of the 4th Glorious Mystery. #portugal #avemaria
FOOTNOTE
Before retiring, let us pray the Shoulder Wound of Christ prayer that St. Bernard composed:
“O Loving Jesus, Meek Lamb of God, I, a miserable sinner, salute and worship the most Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy Flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other wound of Thy Most Blessed Body.
I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful;
I praise and glorify Thee and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross, to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins and to lead me on towards Heaven along the Way of Thy Cross.
Amen.”
