This focus is on the Third Joyful Mystery it is an exhibition that was curated by Drª. Carneiro and her team who prepared these artefacts, that were captured in this video to teach, she explains, “the true meaning of Christmas”, and to revisit special traditions revered by the people in Póvoa de Varzim — an historical fishing community & their traditions in this specific Portuguese city.
We invite everyone in this local area, accessible via the express train line from Porto, or a short ride from Braga or Guimaræs (etc). to take some time to visit this wonderful Marian Pilgrimage city & see this limited time only exhibit, which continues through Christmas until January 8, 2023.
Pilgrims from Fátima can also take the express bus from Fátima from the bus station outside the shrine. Take the express bus which goes back to Porto (24 Agosto) then Póvoa de Varzim where you can continue your Marian Pilgrimage journey.
More on how to pray the Rosary in this area of the Camino soon from “The Catholic Foodie”, CAFOD in the UK, and others join us in this exciting endeavour.
BISHOP BARRON’S SERMON (NOTES BY THE ROSARY HOUR PODCAST):
Is time “The Eternal Return to the Same”? Barron cites Nietzsche here, in the effort to explore the nature of time and then to contrast that to a Biblical sense of time in this sermon
Barron argues that “Time” is “Purposive”; he insists “it has a trajectory”, and “it has a meaning” by way of contrast to the belief that time does not have meaning.
Bishop Barron links “time” to the message of the Bible which he adds conveys a “purposive sense of time” which is, of course, because of God.
One might expand here in a deeper conversation with Barron’s words:
If “God is the author of creation” … “he is (also) the author of time.”
Barron goes back to the idea that “Time has a trajectory” and “is moving somewhere” (rather than nowhere) & he says time moves “toward Christ”, “the recapitulation of all things”.
He notes the idea of “Time Rhymes”:
from Ahaz to King David (citing the Prophet 2 Samuel Chapter 7, which he argues is “one of the most pivotal chapters in the entire Bible”)
Bishop Barron mentions the promise of a child whose reign “will be without end”
He moves on to explain that “History moves forward toward a fulfillment”
In his down-to-earth preaching, he says: “Often our lives can seem like a jumble from ‘one darned thing to another’”; Barron doesn’t give examples, but we can intuit this point during the holidays, filling in the blanks.
He states that we hear in the Bible “Echoes and Rhymes and Anticipations of what God is about in our lives”
Barron argues that God is all about “the business” of “his saving purpose”
He considers St. Paul — then asks the question: ‘What is “The Right Relationship (of a servant) to a King?” ‘
ANSWER: “Obedience”
Yet he shifts to the idea of apostleship as a context:
Thematically, Barron goes back to the point that is common to our understanding that all “Apostles” (in any age) are “sent on a mission”
Thus, Bishop Barron aligns “our histories” (the ones that happen now) as those which “stand in continuity to this great Biblical History”
All of this discussion is given within the context of Jesus, who is the “long awaited, long promised King”
Like Paul, we are called to “Be sent” according to God’s purposes.
OPTION 2: FROM THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF THE DIVINE MERCY
