ETERNAL WISDOM
"My God, You are my anchor on a stormy sea, my serenity on a windy night, my hope when all else fails. Your Presence surrounds me like a protective shield and when the arrows of my selfishness pierce through, Your loving arms extend themselves to reach out and grasp my wandering soul."

SEASON 3 PRIMER: “WHAT IS THE SECRET OF JOY?”
Sep. 14, 2024 | 3rd Edition1 The Rosary Hour Podcast Newsletter | Porto, Portugal is read across 30 US states and in 27 countries! Thank you for being part of this global prayer to deepen the “why” behind our prayers. God bless. The RHP team.

Dear Friends in Christ:
On September 7, I went to the EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) Family Celebration in Toronto, and it was great!
When I first arrived, I went to the kids section where I coloured and played. Then I made my way to the conference room where 2,000 people listened to the talks that Fr. Chris Alar, Fr. Raymond de Souza, and Johnnette Williams (and others) led.
I met Fr. Chris Alar in person backstage, and the video above contains my interview on the topic of: “What is the secret of joy?” — the theme for Season 3 chosen by Padre Nuno Rocha whose August 22 Holy Mass & August 15, 2024 procession are featured in part 2 of this video broadcast.
By the way — Fr. Chris hosts a show called “Living Divine Mercy” here: https://www.thedivinemercy.org/livingdivinemercy.
And I prayed the Rosary with the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word and prayed the Holy Mass led by Cardinal Thomas Christopher Collins — I enjoyed his talk with the EWTN team.
Plus here is some information about Mother Angelica's life:
She was born on April 20, 1923 and she died 27th March 2016, at the age of 92
Here are three quotes from her biography that I found Inspiring↓
“Young Rita Rizzo experienced two miracles that would shape her later life.”
“In 1944, she entered a convent and became Sister Mary Angelica. After a series of crippling ailments, she promised God if He would allow her to walk again, she would start a monastery in the South.”
“Armed with only $200, and 12 cloistered nuns with no television background, Mother turned the monastery’s garage into a television studio. In 1981, EWTN went on the air as the country’s first Catholic satellite television station. Mother became a television star hosting a popular and still running show, ‘Mother Angelica Live.’”

I hope you have a great week!

SEASON 3 — ESSENTIAL QUESTION: “WHY DO WE NEED JOY?”4
The Rosary Hour Podcast invites you to share with others who need help to pray the Rosary every day to visit the following site dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary. We hope this back-to-school reading will help students reflect on the meaning of “Joy” when they pray the Joyful Mysteries together as a class, or taking turns to lead the decades of the Rosary at home with the help of Fr. Nuno Rocha, Fr. Chris Alar, Antonia Salzano Acutis and others.
We hope that this Advent, our readers can take up an active ministry in helping others re-discover the beauty of the Holy Rosary, starting with helping others to build confidence in prayer by first helping them to unpack “The Secret of Joy" in the Joyful Mysteries.5

VIDEO PART II:
WHAT IS A MARIAN PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL LIKE?
Do you ever wonder what is it like to pray the Holy Mass on the Camino to Santiago in Portugal?
In today's video, our guests from anywhere in the world can take a virtual pilgrimage to one of the parishes that thousands of travellers pass when they visit it to get a stamp for their Camino trek on the way of St. James via the Atlantic Coast of Portugal. Many walk from Porto and continue by way of Pontevedra, continuing onward to to the Cathedral in Spain.
The video segment following Father Chris's lesson on "Joy" features Fr. Nuno’s parish, Igreja da Lapa, located in Northern Portugal.
In the homily for this Holy Mass (excerpt), delivered by a VIP from the Archidiócesis Metropolitana de Évora (Portugal), D. Francisco José Vilas Boas Senra de Faria Coelho who presides over this mass -- he called Our Lady of Lapa Parish “A Marian Missionary Parish” (August 22nd, 2024 -- the Queenship of Mary) in a 28-minute improvisatory and academic homily that has been transcribed will be published on "The Diary of Prayer" via odiario.substack.com. The Archbishop holds a doctorate from the United States of America in the field of History and gives a brilliant commentary on what it means to be a Missionary Church with Our Lady in 2024.
In his Homily, he reminds the parish:
- “You are a parish with a missionary purpose, but also because thousands and thousands of people come here, when you give your living testimony in the streets of this land. You reach far, beyond the Minho, beyond the hills and mountains, you [Our Lady of Lapa] are a missionary parish. With the design of Mary, a missionary and Marian parish, with centuries of experience and, therefore, with centuries of experience, always, every day, be instruments of God in the way of Mary.
With this word I will serve: servants of God as the Spirit of Mary."
TO CONTEXTUALIZE THE VIDEO ABOVE, FR. CHRIS ALAR EXPLAINS “THE QUEENSHIP OF MARY”8 See also: divinemercyplus.org
You can also learn more about the 4th and 5th Joyful Mysteries featured in the Holy Mass depicted in this video via the sculptures that are part of the procession, also by watching and taking notes from Episode 154: Living Divine Mercy -- which explores the "Queenship of Mary" as led by Amelia's guest, Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, on his show on EWTN here:
THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES & JOY OF PRAYING THE ROSARY EVERY DAY
One of the goals of Season 3 is to help others understand the “WHY” of the Joyful Mysteries and the nature of Holiness.9 The Rosary Hour Podcast wishes to thank Fr. Chris Alar for helping this prayer podcast begin our discussion on “Joy”, as we strive to rediscover our answers to two essential questions for 2024-2025:
“What is the Secret of Joy?”
and “What is Sanctity?”
as we launch our conversation on the Holy Rosary through this little Rosary prayer group. We thank you for joining us and our guests who have helped us to recite and even lead the Rosary with even greater conviction that we did in 2022.

END NOTES: REFLECTIONS ABOUT SEPTEMBER 11, 2024
September 11, 2024
Today is Sept 11, which as many readers know, is quite significant in North America. Where were you on September 11, 2001? What did the sky look like? Do you remember?
A PRAYER FOR THE HOLY SOULS
Let’s transport ourselves to Ground Zero and pray for the Holy Souls who died when the Twin Towers fell the day when the sky smoked clouds of dust from the wreckage and aftermath.
If you have time, why not go to your parish and invite others to offer to pray a Rosary before the tabernacle in reparation for the crimes committed on Sept. 11 for people and families who were so helpless and so needlessly taken — let us ask God to help repair the wounds in all hearts by His holy wounds.
For the sake of His Sorrowful passion: Have Mercy on us and on the whole World.
Pray the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy with the Marian Fathers today at 3 p.m. and if time, please pray with Father Thad today’s prayers for the Souls in Purgatory: “For those who blindly obey sinful orders in harming others”.

Mother Mary Angelica Foundress
They say God works in mysterious ways, but no one would have predicted He would choose a Poor Clare nun with no broadcasting experience to build a media empire.
EWTN’s future foundress was born on April 20, 1923. Young Rita Rizzo experienced two miracles that would shape her later life. Through them, she realized God loved her personally, and she began to love him back. In 1944, she entered a convent and became Sister Mary Angelica. After a series of crippling ailments, she promised God if He would allow her to walk again, she would start a monastery in the South.
In those early days, survival was a challenge for Our Lady of the Angels monastery in Irondale, Alabama. To support their work, the sisters sold fishing lures and roasted peanuts, and Mother Angelica gave parlor talks, using her wit and charm to win over the audience. As she gained popularity, Mother was frequently invited to speak to groups or on radio. But it was on a visit to a Baptist run television station in Chicago where she famously declared “Lord, I gotta have one of these.”
Armed with only $200, and 12 cloistered nuns with no television background, Mother turned the monastery’s garage into a television studio. In 1981, EWTN went on the air as the country’s first Catholic satellite television station. Mother became a television star hosting a popular and still running show, “Mother Angelica Live.” Despite innumerable challenges and millions in debt, the network grew supported only by viewer contributions.
Today, EWTN is the largest Catholic media corporation in the world. Its 11 TV channels are broadcast in multiple languages to over 435 million TV households in more than 160 countries and territories. With extensive efforts in newsgathering, radio, newspapers, websites and publishing, it spreads the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a worldwide audience desperately searching for the Truth.
All because of one nun who refused to take “no” for an answer, and instead relied on God to provide.

In anticipation of Sept. 12, the Holy Name of Mary, and Sept 15, Our Lady of Sorrows, we have extended our notes to include more “joyful mysteries” materials for those looking to implement a Rosary into their prayer lives and parishes this week. Remember that you only need two people to pray a Rosary publicly, and reflect on what Jesus said in Matthew 18:20 (c.f. Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition).
