"THE MEU DEUS"

A DAILY PRAYER OF REPARATION (1916)

UPDATED 12 MAY 2024, VIGIL OF OUR LADY OF FÁTIMA:

Fr. Anthony notes in his video above that the “Angel appeared” in order to demonstrate to the children that “God exists.”

The children, of course, were told by adults that their “vision” was false, and that they should renounce having seen anything supernatural.

(Those who don’t know how this story ends might feel free to brush up on the story with the “movie” version here:)

THE QUESTION DRIVING THE 1916 APPARITION OF THE ANGEL OF PORTUGAL:

DOES GOD EXIST?

Debate this point with someone you know? How do you know? Revisit the Catholic Catechism section on the purpose of Angels in this equation here: (see articles 328-336):

At the heart of many conversations about Fátima and even many films / videos about angels is this question that Fr. Chris, by way of coincidence, just posted about: "Proof that God Exists".

THE MEU DEUS: WHY THIS PRAYER OF REPARATION?

For this part of the new Consecration Journey, we will jump straight to the actual prayer text that is used in Portugal at the beginning of the Terço, which is located in Fr. Nuno Rocha's Rosary transcript. Note that Fr. Nuno lists the "Meu Deus", for the LEITOR to utter 3 times after making the sign of the cross.

Here is the text using this screenshot of the document:

STEP 1: LEARN THE WORDS OF THE PRAYER

Let's start with learning the prayers before we understand them.

Fr. Elias Mary Mills, in our Spiritual Direction sessions this past April 2024 has noted to our team that this need to LEARN THE PRAYER TEXTS of the Rosary is an effective place for children of God to begin: the Rosary begins with taking the time to learn the words and commit them to memory as we pray them! If you love to sing, instead of simply reciting this prayer like poetry, try singing the words as featured in Fátima. We invite you to imagine walking to Valinhos:

OTHER WAYS TO LEARN THESE PRAYERS THROUGH VISUALS & ARTFUL LETTERING

We'll comment on the above another time. You can see how easy it is to create colouring pages for children to learn the "words" and the "Why" and the story behind the prayers. This method can be applied to ANY PRAYER of the Rosary.
