POST SUMMARY:
Guess who came to visit the Digital Café?
First, Father Nuno Rocha from Portugal explores the concept of joy in a booklet that he created and which will be published in his newsletter, of which he is the Editor-at-large odiario.subsstack.com. This text, “The Secret of Joy”, a set of relfections translated into five languages, including French, Italian, English, German is included here. This will be animated soon and the translations are derived after much thought / research from the original Portuguese by Rembrandt, a retired professor who studied theology in the 1960s and languages in Europe; he has been writing for the Rosary Hour Podcast with reflections on Fra Angelico’s Joyful Mysteries as well as the Immaculate conception, and his contributions are well-known to our long-time podcast newsletter followers. We thank Fr. Nuno for assisting our team with the translations into English. (French coming soon by Pe Delphim). This introduction serves to explore the importance of joy in our lives in his essay, published on the anniversary of his 25th Christmas Mass since his ordination, and which features the painting of the picturesque beach on Camino to Santiago by Sr. Gomes de Amorim, courtesy of the Municipal Museum in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal, a depiction of the beauty of the Camino to Santiago on the Atlantic Coast of Portugal that is visited by many pilgrims around the world.
Second, on February 2nd, beloved YouTube personality Father David Michael Moses and master of comedy explores with the Rosary Hour Podcast team the concept of humor and why it matters to our Faith. Why are we drawn to humor? Was Jesus funny? Why do we laugh and how is that connected to the joy of the Gospel? Join Amelia and Asher on Easter Sunday, March 31, at 7 PM EASTERN via our YOUTUBE CHANNEL who host this exclusive and unique Micro Masterclass on Humor, a 101 that will make you laugh and which is led by the founder of Pilgrim Rosary. God bless and enjoy this little video presentation.
THE ROSARY HOUR PODCAST NEWSLETTER | 2nd EDITION (with “Précis”)
Dear RHP Readers and visitors exploring this site for the first time. Welcome!…
by: The Rosary Hour Podcast Team (Reviewed by Karen Rocha & Izzy Nunziato)
The weight of the pandemic (and so many dark world events) has sparked a new interest by The Rosary Hour Podcast team, guided by our Spiritual Directors, to rediscover joy.
When we interviewed at random a person about the topic, and asked whether or not she thought people “have joy”, one of the responses was: “No. People don’t have joy.” When we pressed the question further, that person observed that, “People don’t have time for joy”.
People don’t have time for joy?
But didn’t Jesus commanded that …
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you,
and your joy may be filled.” (The Gospel of John 15: 11)
How do we become vessels into which Christ might pour His joy in us?
What immediately comes to mind is that we can ask for joy, despite the sorrows in our lives. We can ask for Joy every single time we visit the tabernacle, go to Adoration, go to Mass, or pray the Rosary.
How can we make it a point in 2024 to ask Jesus for this “Easter Joy”? Two of our Spiritual Directors investigate for Season 2.
THE SECRET OF JOY
by: Father Nuno Rocha
“Why is joy important?” And how are we to understand joy it in light of Jesus’s wish articulated in the Gospel that “my joy may be in you”?
This question is answered by our Spiritual Director, Father Nuno Rocha, who took the time to help our readers explore the “Why” of Joy in his new introduction to the Joyful Mysteries.
Father Nuno recorded the Mysteries of the Rosary in Portuguese, and curated the prayers for the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries which we will release in 2024 with reflections on the Mysteries of the Rosary via “O Diário da Oração”. You can follow this newsletter of which Fr. Nuno is the new Editor-at-large here: https://odiario.substack.com.
In this essay, which will be translated (so far) into five languages, including Italian, English, German and French, Fr. Nuno helps pilgrims around the world to explore the “Joy” in the Joyful Mysteries from his desk on the Camino to Santiago.

___________
“Why is joy important?”
“Joy is something that comes upon us, is born to us or that comes to us through a well-perfected life. This well-perfected life can only be achieved by putting on the mantle of true joy. To this end, we must be faithful to what we are.” ~ Fr. Nuno Rocha, Portugal
~ Padre Nuno Rocha, Portugal

COMING SOON
FRENCH
(NOTE: The French translation is being refined as we post this presentation, and will be completed on ODiario.Substack.com soon. Please link to this site to get copies of all the translations to your inbox as they arrive. We’ll publish everything one question at a time in these five languages. NOTE: If you are a priest / seminarian / scholar who is able to help us translate the original text in Portuguese to Japanese, Greek, Spanish, or other languages and feel called by the Holy Spirit to help out, let us know! We thank Rembrandt and Pe Delphim for their assistance).
“SMILE, DON’T YOU KNOW GOD LOVES YOU?”
Many North Americans might remember that song, even those attending a quasi-Christian grade school, especially one which didn’t teach the hymns in Latin. Beyond its hint of sentimentality, the 1970s style phrase reminds us that we are all beloved sons and daughters of God.
As we investigate the question, “What does it mean to be a Child of God?” for Season 2 of the Rosary Hour Podcast, Amelia, the Director of Photography for this latest conversation, wishes to share her second attempt at an “OFFICIAL, SNEAK PREVIEW” of a fascinating conversation at the Digital Café about Humor.
